Joel Sarakula kehrt zurück mit einem frischen tropisch-sonnigen Songreigen - sein achtes Studioalbum erscheint als CD im Digifile und als LP mit 4c-Innenhülle auf Legere Recordings. Der Titel "Island Time" ist programmatisch: Die zehn neuen Songs sind entstanden, nachdem Sarakula auf die Kanarischen Inseln gezogen ist. Im November 2020 nahm er eine Einladung an, im "Alfredo Kraus Auditorium" in Las Palmas, Gran Canaria, zu spielen - ein folgenreicher Auftritt, der den Umzug aus Großbritannien nach sich zog. Themen wie Inselleben, Stadtleben, Einsamkeit, romantische Liebe und unsere Beziehung zur Natur prägen die Texte auf "Island Time". Musikalisch ist Sarakulas Indie-Pop tief eingetaucht in AOR / Softrock, Soul, Disco und sogar Reggae. Die Produktion konzentrierte sich auf eine kleine Gruppe von Musikern, darunter Phil Martin (Dawn Patrol, Martin & Garp) am Schlagzeug und Xav Clarke an Gitarre und Bass. Sarakula erweitert seine Palette mit einem breiteren Einsatz von Synthesizern und Drumcomputern und trifft stilistisch abenteuerliche Entscheidungen wie den AOR-Samba von "Dinosaur" und den vom "Cod-Reggae" der 70er Jahre inspirierten Titeltrack "Island Time", eine Hommage an Flucht und Neuerfindung. Dabei bleibt "Island Time" bei aller Abwechslung erstaunlicherweise ein Werk wie aus einem Guss.

They always enjoy pulling it out and now I can refer back to the characters to remind them of their manners in a more positive way. The only thing is I kinda wish they had used a different animal than pig, since for some reason I don't like saying "don't be like the pigs" (since I don't really want them calling eachother or other kids pigs). But so far it has been fine :) It's also very nice they included "Be kind to animals, they have feelings too." We say that all the time around here since we have kitties. Also the part about table manners is great since we had already been teaching the kids to ask before being excused from the table.
