Overview

An adaptor providing CAT III protection to CAT II RCD testing devices when connected to a power source in a CAT III environment, such as a switchboard.

Application:

Testing switchboard RCDs can be performed at the outlet sockets or directly at the switchboard by a licensed electrician. Many electricians prefer testing at the switchboard as it allows efficient RCD testing without needing to access multiple outlets. However, since switchboards are classified as CAT III environments, using CAT II testers, such as appliance testers, presents serious risks to both the users and the equipment due to voltage spikes and transients.

This unique device allows CAT II appliance testers and RCD testers to be safely used in CAT III environments for RCD testing, eliminating the need for separate CAT III RCD testers or installation testers.

Benefits:

  • Use one piece of test equipment for both appliance testing and switchboard RCD testing, reducing the need for two separate devices.
  • Utilise the advanced recording capabilities of appliance testers.
  • Consolidate RCD test results performed at the switchboard with appliance testing results.

Note: This device does not allow appliance testers or RCD testers that require a neutral connection to connect to a 3-phase power source without neutral (e.g., connecting an appliance tester to a 4-pin (L1, L2, L3, PE) power source). For this application, please explore our range of installation testers and dedicated RCD testers.

Specifications:

  • Input Sockets: 3 x 4mm shrouded (Red = Active/L, Black = Neutral/N, Green = Earth/PE)
  • Max Input Voltage: 265V AC
  • Protection Fuse: 2 x 1A fast-acting fuses, 10x38mm, rated at 500V or higher
  • Neon Indication (Input): Lit when probes are connected to live voltages
  • Power Consumption: 5VA, 50Hz
  • Internal Relay Isolation: Dual relays (L and N circuits, normally open); relays close only when input voltage is between 180V and 265V (±10%)
  • Output: Australian standard 240V/10A mains socket
  • Neon Indication (Output): Lit when relay contacts are closed, indicating mains voltage is present at the output socket
  • Earth (PE): Directly connected from input socket to output socket
  • Dimensions: 204 x 102 x 95mm, 800g
  • Magnetic Back: Strong magnets to hold the adaptor to vertical steel surfaces
  • Operating Environment: 0 to 40°C, without moisture condensation
  • Safety Rating: CAT III 600V (Independent Test Report ID 2020-05)

Capability Summary

The adaptor provides the following test capability*

Where it all starts
If you buy this you are about to start reading the greatest Batman run since... let's just say this is the greatest run on Batman. I may be over hyping this, the story arcs collected here are good on their own, but until you read the next volume and return to this one, your not getting the whole story. So it's hard to say how great this story is, and how great it gets. I would only get this if you plan on buying the other 7 Morriosn Batman books that follow this. Black Glove, RIP, Batman Reborn, Batman vs Robin, Time and the Batman, Return of Bruce Wayne, and Batman Must Die!. In that order. You'll have fun reading this run.

Visionary
If you're familiar with the work of Grant Morrison than you'll know this book was never intended to be read as a stand alone work. This is just the first few stories in a long run that culminate in Batman Inc. So, keep that in mind if you plan to jump on here. It's all or nothing. I'm always amazed with Morrison's ability to craft smart, universe encapsulating, severely polarizing stories in almost every one of his runs. His meticulous plotting, spot on characterization, and willingness to take chances are just three of the plethora of reasons to buy this book. If you like to be rewarded for paying attention and are looking for something more from your comics than "monster-of-the-week" this is for you.

I don't know, something's missing
I like the idea of Bruce Wayne being a dad - and with Ra's Al Ghul's daughter too. But is it just me or does it seem like there are gaps in the story; maybe there are other books in the story arc not in this graphic novel? When I got to the end of the book I was scratching my head saying "Is that it?" If you like Batman I suggest going to Forbidden Planet or your local comic shop and asking one of the people there to give you all the books around the arc so it makes sense.

A new Wayne
This book introduces Damian Wayne as the son of Bruce Wayne and Talia al Ghul. Bruce does not allow Damian to be Robin in this story as Tim Drake still is. Plus Bruce does not like Damian's attitude toward Alfred and Tim. This story does help to show just how talented (and violent) the future Robin is though.
