The publication of The Marketplace of Ideas has precipitated a lively debate about the future of the American university system: what makes it so hard for colleges to decide which subjects are required? Why are so many academics against the concept of interdisciplinary studies? From his position at the heart of academe, Harvard professor Louis Menand thinks he's found the answer. Despite the vast social changes and technological advancements that have revolutionized the society at large, general principles of scholarly organization, curriculum, and philosophy have remained remarkably static. Sparking a long-overdue debate about the future of American education, The Marketplace of Ideas argues that twenty-first-century professors and students are essentially trying to function in a nineteenth-century system, and that the resulting conflict threatens to overshadow the basic pursuit of knowledge and truth.Binding Type: Paperback

Points to ponder
Color: Batteries Powered, Color: Batteries Powered
Attractive shelves and good illumination, but must be turned on and off manually and individually. Not spaced to secure to studs so gigantic anchors are provided but nothing to hide or secure the AAA battery power supply required for each shelf. No ability to dim and no remote on these units at this price point but I will find a place for these shelves which are attractive and good value if you aren’t as reluctant as me to put heavy things on them or as lazy as me.

Vision came to life!!
Color: Batteries Powered, Color: Batteries Powered
I am pleased with my purchase, I wanted a spot light but I like the strip. The picture was taken in the early evening, it gives a great ambiance. Lights start to dim as the batteries die, easy installation.
I used tan tape to cover the power cord, the shelves are above eye level so you can’t see it.

Amazing concept
Color: Usb Powered, Color: Usb Powered
They are everything I wanted for the aesthetic I was going for. They are a fairly simple install and they come with pretty good instructions. However, I don't know if it was my rush to get them up or if it was a design flaw but they are not very sturdy in the wall. I had seen a few reviews that said that they were a bit loose and I wasn't expecting heavy objects on it but I did end up needing to put support bars underneath them just because they kept sinking downward. Had I known that would have been the case I would have installed them differently and avoided putting holes in my wall at all but they're up now and it is what it is.
