If you imagine a wave in the ocean, you can see it, you can measure it. Its height, the way the sunlight refracts when it passes through. It is there, you can see it, and you know what it is. It is a wave.
But when it crashes on the shore, the wave is gone, yet the water remains. The wave was just a different way for the water to exist for a little while. It is one conception of death for Buddhists: the wave returns to the ocean where it came from, where it is supposed to be, a continuum, a rebirth.
We have engraved this Buddha Wave symbol onto our 26" Mother Tesla Gong, which creates a deep, warm tone. The unlathed finish of this gong shows how gongs look when they come out of the oven. This unlathed finish mutes much of the crash we associate with shinier Chinese gongs and focuses the overall sound on the deep fundamental tone and mid-range harmonics.
