2017年1月1日，加拿大籍學者貝淡寧（Daniel A. Bell）獲任命為山東大學政治學與公共管理學院院長。他既非公民，也不是中國共產黨黨員，卻因研究儒家思想成就斐然，成為中國首位重要高校的政治學學院院長。本書記錄了貝淡寧這位外籍「小官」的獨特經歷，也記述了他觀察中國學術界與政治體制互動的感想與建言。
雖然「小官」貝淡寧自陳，他在院長任內並非一帆風順，「錯失與誤解不斷」，但顯然無損他站在高點觀察、點評中國社會與學術界的能力。例如，他解釋了中國官員（包含大學的管理者）普遍習慣染髮的原因。再如，他生動地描述山東飲酒文化，如何從孔子口中的「唯酒無量」演化到「不及亂」的過程。此外，貝淡寧直問了更多嚴肅問題：例如，大學的黨委書記應當扮演何種角色？反腐敗運動對學術界的影響何在，以及他體驗過正式和非正式言論審查後的感想與及建議等。對於中國政治前景，貝淡寧表示，他有機會坐在觀察中國大陸政治演變的第一排位置，大膽預測：基於過去三十年儒家思想在中國的復興，以及共產主義在2008年後「捲土重來」的現象，中國的未來很可能會由儒家思想和共產主義共同決定。

Quite good. I am actually surprised. Too small for queensize

These pillows are actually good. After reading a ton of reviews I pulled the trigger on these. I was 100% sure I was going to receive bad quality pillows (too flat or too thick). They do take 24-48 hours to firmen up. Let's see if they flatten out in a few weeks or if they hold up. My wife said the pillow was too thick and it raised her head too much. I don't agree, I sleep perfect on these, no neck pain in the morning.

These are actually quite small to be considered queen pillows. They have become firm over the last few days.
