It hits hard and gets out of the way fast, which is exactly what you want from a compact kick.
Two interchangeable EMAD foam damping rings let you shape the sustain from the outside of the drum. Pop in the narrow ring for a bit of punch with some breath, or use the wide ring for a tighter, more studio-ready thud.
