The Active Autowerke BMW E46 M3 Exhaust SECTION 1 is designed to integrate with a pair of 100 cell Hi Flow metallic catalysts, providing an effective exhaust solution for your BMW E46 M3.
This section replaces the factory BMW Section 1, which features a straight-through design with twin pipes and resonators on one side. While the factory component performs adequately, particularly with a performance header installed, it can produce a distinctive rasp-like sound and an odor of unburnt fuel due to open exhaust flow without catalysts.
With the Active Autowerke Exhaust SECTION 1 installed alongside a performance header, you'll experience:
- Elimination of the rasp-like resonance occurring at higher RPMs (around 4,000 rpm), a known characteristic of the BMW S54 engine
- Removal of unburnt fuel smell thanks to the included pair of 100 cell metallic catalysts
- Maintenance of strong exhaust flow and performance comparable to the factory setup
This section is constructed from 100% 304 stainless steel with a brushed finish, uses factory mounting points for easy installation, and is recommended for off-road use. It comes with a two-year warranty and free technical support.
