An art pen with quiet poise and enduring craft

The Namiki Chinkin Yukari Royale Fountain Pen - Cat brings the serenity of a watchful feline to Namiki's celebrated Yukari Royale format. Against a deep black urushi canvas, fine chisel work catches the light with warm gold, tracing whiskers, fur, and a gentle silhouette with remarkable restraint. It is a contemplative composition, executed in a technique that rewards close study in the hand and on the page.

Craftsmanship and Design

Chinkin is a traditional gold-inlaid engraving method within the Japanese lacquer arts. Using specialized chisels, the artisan incises minute lines and points into layers of hardened urushi, then charges those cuts with lacquer and metallic powder so the design becomes permanently embedded in relief. The result is tactile and luminous: a pattern that will not wear off because it lives within the lacquer itself. On this Yukari Royale, the motif of a cat is rendered with controlled linework that suggests motion and softness without excess, allowing the roiro-black urushi to share the stage with the gold inlay.

The pen's form is built around Namiki's ebonite core, hand-lacquered in multiple coats of urushi to achieve a glossy, mirror-like depth. Proportions are generous yet balanced, with understated gold-finished appointments and Namiki's dignified clip. The larger Yukari Royale silhouette offers a purposeful canvas for the chinkin technique while remaining refined enough for daily carry.

Writing Experience

At the heart of the Namiki Chinkin Yukari Royale fountain pen is an 18k gold nib in Namiki's large No. 20 size, tuned for a naturally smooth glide and a touch of responsive softness. It delivers steady ink flow with the quiet confidence that has made Pilot and Namiki nibs trusted by long-form writers and collectors alike. The section geometry encourages a relaxed grip, while the pen's mass is centered for comfortable sessions unposted; posting is possible for those who prefer additional length.

The cartridge/converter filling system offers practical flexibility. Pair the pen with Pilot proprietary cartridges for convenience, or a compatible converter for bottled inks to suit your journaling, sketching, or correspondence. The well-sealed cap helps maintain a ready-to-write start, protecting both the nib and the urushi finish when stored.

Heritage and Provenance

Since 1925, Namiki has married urushi artistry with precision Japanese penmaking, building a lineage that spans studio craft and engineering discipline. Chinkin sits alongside maki-e within this tradition, a discipline that demands patience, blade control, and an intimate understanding of lacquer's behavior. Each engraved stroke is final; there is no repainting a line cut into urushi. That sense of decisiveness is evident here, where the cat motif finds life in economy and detail rather than ornament for its own sake.

For collectors, the Yukari Royale occupies a sweet spot: a substantial writing instrument that also provides an expressive surface for Namiki's ateliers. The chinkin execution emphasizes durability in daily use while preserving the nuance of handwork that makes each example unique.

Worth the price
Scent: Face Wash, Size: 5.1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
Although I was hesitant to buy this at first since it’s about twice the price as the facial cleansers I normally use, it’s by far the best face wash I’ve ever used. It exfoliates the skin very well and leaves your face feeling clean after use. Definitely worth the extra few dollars

Greasy, does not blend in well but does not leave white marms
Overall, when researching this product, I saw that it does not leave the white residue on your face like normal sunscreen does, I’m looking for a face moisturizer first with SPF but this one feels more just like an SPF sunscreen. It is pretty greasy shortly and after a few hours of having it on, especially when sweating it makes my face feel really oily, and also it does not blend in very well such as pretty much like I just mentioned you could still feel it on your face a couple hours later but if the no white resident is the most important thing for you, it does not leave that residue. It’s cruelty free and vegan product (no animal products in it or animal testing done) so that’s good but I will most likely not be purchasing this .

So so good!!!
Scent: Face Wash, Size: 5.1 Fl Oz (Pack of 1)
This face wash is a game changer! From texture to smell it is perfect. I ordered this for my husband to replace his usual "routine" of washing his face in the shower with bar soap (gasp!). I not-so-sneakily put this in the shower and at his first sample of it he was hooked. It's the only face wash he's tried and actually likes to use on a daily basis. Also, the price point is great! Definitely recommend for anyone seeking an awesome face wash at a perfect price.

A lot of these poems leave me feeling like an idiot
Format: Paperback
This is the type of book I read at 3 am when I can't sleep. Stevens' poetry just makes me feel so calm, even though the content in his poetry is not in fact anywhere near the realms of calm. Overall, I would say, the content is hard-hitting. I'm not going to pretend I understand all of his ideas and everything he says- I definitely don't. A lot of these poems leave me feeling like an idiot. But when I am able to figure something out, it all starts to click and I am left with a lump in my throat. Although I don't necessarily understand everything when it comes to this collection, I think that it is a good thing. It just shows the high level of his talent manages to knock me off my feet. Well, anyway, I got my first peak of this collection at uni. I was so intrigued by it that I bought it during winter break. While reading it I found out one of my professors is an editor of the edition that I bought. Rad. But also, the thing is, (and I have thought this many times before,) uni can only teach you so many things. I learned much more about Stevens' poetry by reading it myself than what I learned from uni. Like, without reading basically this whole collection, I would have never learned that Stevens is, for the most part, a Romantic. He's a lot like Wordsworth, I think. He inherits so many of the Romantic feelings, ideas and philosophies but he still manages to stay modern at the same time. I am obsessed with the Romantic poets so in my mind, that's what makes him stand out. I love the fact that he manages to tie modernism and Romanticism together, it is a real treat for me to read. Even though it's not really talked about, I would say my favorite poem of his is "Another Weeping Woman". It is so quick and beautiful and earnest and a good poem to read when you lose one of your loved ones. Over the past couple of years I have really warmed up to poetry. I'm not a huge American lit person in general but I always tell people that Stevens is one of my favorites, if not my favorite American poet. Everything about his work seems so personal, like when you're reading it, it feels like he is speaking directly to you. It feels so natural but honestly nothing about reading his poetry is easy. It is tough to figure out. But I enjoyed taking the time to sit down and try to hypothesize all that is going on in his works. He is dark, so dark and yet manages to feel so light, so beautiful. He delivers the best of both worlds in my eyes and that's why I will revisit this collection again and again and again. It never stops being so hideous and so beautiful at the same time.
