The Control Synthesis Deep Bass Nine (DB9), released around 1994, is a British-made analog monophonic bass synthesizer designed as a MIDI-controlled alternative to the Roland TB-303. Housed in a 1U rackmount unit, it features a single voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) offering sawtooth and square waveforms, and a 24 dB/octave low-pass filter—differing from the TB-303's 18 dB/octave filter—which contributes to its deeper, warmer sound character . The front panel provides ten dedicated knobs for parameters such as tuning, cutoff frequency, resonance, envelope modulation, decay, accent, and a hidden glide function. Notably, the accent effect is controlled via MIDI note velocity, influencing both filter frequency and amplitude . While the DB9 lacks onboard patch memory and a sequencer, it compensates with MIDI control capabilities and a built-in CV/Gate converter, allowing integration with pre-MIDI gear . - Physically this unit is in great condition. It shows some general wear from use and age like some marks, nicks and scratches. Nothing major at all.
- This unit has been tested and it is 100% functional.
- This unit is has been set up for 240V. It is ready to plug and play within Australia and New Zealand. You can change it to 120V by flicking the switch at the back with a flat head screwdriver.
- Please ensure the switch at the back is set for your countries mains power before powering on.
- This unit uses an IEC cable to power on. This cable is not included in the sale.
- This sale is for the unit only. Nothing else is included in this sale.
