The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 is a full spectrum counterweight / storage system for the modern combat helmet.  Incorporating operator feedback as well as our staff’s own battlefield experience, we designed the Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 to be a highly functional, modular accessory for all modern warriors.  It provides useful storage and retention of mission-essential gear and will attach to any currently-fielded ballistic or bump helmet with Velcro.  Building on the feature-rich MK1, the MK2 variant is designed for operators running an NVG system with a remote battery pack.  This would include goggles such as the TNV/Sentinel, ANVIS AVS-6/9, AN/PVS-23, AN/PVS-31, GPNVG-18, etc.

  • Lighter Weight 500D Cordura Nylon construction
  • Pattern-matched loop fastener in ALL patterns
  • Cord Lock Retainer
  • Longer loops for comms cable retention
  • 100% Berry Compliant

The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 is packed full of useful features for Armed Professionals and Civilian Hunters alike.  No other helmet accessory system offers this level of versatility.  Designed by TNVC staff, the Mohawk is manufactured in the USA, and Berry Amendment compliant.

FEATURES & BENEFITS

Signal Strobe Attachment & Retention  A vertically-oriented Mohawk strip is the centerpiece of the design.  It features a Velcro pile surface that accepts attachment of all currently issued / fielded signal strobe devices.  The continuous pile strip allows for precise placement of the device on the rear or top of the helmet.  It also provides enough room for attaching a blast sensor device.  An adjustable shock cord net provides secondary retention for the devices while not limiting access to their controls.  This is important when performing high stress activities such as airborne operations and high angle work.  Don’t wear a strobe light?  No problem.  The shock cord net provides excellent storage for a tourniquet – Easily accessible and always handy.

Battery Box Storage Compartment  This is the main difference between the Mohawk MK1 Gen. 2 and MK2 Gen. 2.  The MK2 Gen. 2 features a purpose-built pouch for holding remote battery boxes for NVGs.  The pouch is perfectly sized to hold the standard issue ANVIS Box, Adams Industries Ground Warrior Battery Pack, or the AN/PVS-31 BNVD “winter” Battery Box (also used for the GPNVG-18 and AN/PSQ-36).  Dual top straps secure over the battery box lids, providing added security and protection, while leaving the center open for easy access to the power switch.  What if you don’t use a remote battery pack?  Well, the compartment can be used to hold all sorts of things such as an extra MBITR Battery or a can of dip.
Ready Access Batteries  Two elastic loops are located on either side of the main compartment, providing immediate access battery storage.  These loops allow operators to grab two batteries without ripping Velcro.  They also provide secondary functionality by holding chemlights for nighttime airborne operations or field ID while hunting.

Headset Cable Management  The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 has two bottom-located Velcro strips for bundling and storing communication headset cable.  This extremely useful feature solves one of the most annoying issues facing operators.  The headset cable that plugs into your body-mounted PTT is often left dangling to snag on everything during training or storage of the helmet.  Or if you have dual comms (one for team radio and one to plug into the vehicle radio), one of the cables will be left to dangle when you dismount the vehicle.  The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 cable storage straps will stow those pesky cables, protecting them and giving you freedom of head movement.

Secondary Retention  The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 features two loops for routing 550 or shock cord on either side.  This is for secondary retention of the entire system during high intensity activities.  Velcro does not provide 100% retention on a helmet.  The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 provides the opportunity for the operator to run cord from the system to the rear helmet bolts or rail.  Doing so will keep your Mohawk Mk1 securely in place regardless of battlefield conditions.

User Feedback Generated Gen. 2 Features  Lighter weight 500D Cordura Nylon material compared to the 1000D Gen. 1 versions, color and pattern matched Velcro pile on all versions, improved cable retention for helmet mounted comms, and a built-in cord lock retainer to keep the bungee retainer from hanging loose.

The Mohawk MK2 Gen. 2 is the most feature-rich helmet accessory system available.  But, if you don’t run an NVG with a remote battery box, check out the Mohawk MK1 Gen. 2, or if you are using the smaller BNVD battery pack with the AN/PVS-31/31A, please check out our Mohawk MK3 Gen. 2.

Brown skin approved!
Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 1), Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 1)
Does not leave a white cast, feels very light on the skin. Scanned on Yuka and was a 86/100 green zone! It’s so hard to find a sunscreen that isn’t trying to poison you, scanned all the sunscreen at Walmart and were rated a 1/100 through 6/100. Which brought me to Amazon. Thinksport has my vote on goodness and healthiness, would buy again!

My favorite... And I'm picky.
Size: 3 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I've become a little obsessed with sunscreen over the last past 5 years. I have olive skin and developed melasma after my first pregnancy. I learned the hard way that chemical sunscreens don't help if you have melasma - and they actually make the dark spots even worse. Also the active ingredients in chemical sunscreens (like Oxybenzone and Octinoxate) are absorbed by your skin, and may cause allergies, hormonal imbalance and be toxic overtime. After learning that, I started wearing only mineral sunscreen (active ingredient is zinc and/or titanium dioxide). These are not absorbed and works by creating a physical barrier that reflects the sun (some studies suggest that some nanoparticles of zinc may be absorbed by your skin, so to be really, really safe you should look for non-nano particles). After trying a few brands, I realized the sunscreens with only zinc in their formulas worked better than the blends with titanium dioxide, but this is just my personal preference I guess. And the higher the percentage of zinc, the better. Most pure mineral sunscreens out there are 10-ish % zinc, SPF 30, 40 min water resistant - which is ok. Thinksport goes beyond that: It's 20% non-nano zinc, SPF 50+, 80 min water resistant. It really can't get any better than that! The lotion is not extremely thick when compared to other sunscreens I've tried and I find it pretty easy to apply. As every zinc sunscreen, it does leave a little fine white cast, but honestly Thinksport is not bad at all! It smells nice, lightly citrusy - and the smell vanishes soon. And, it's not overpriced. Best I've tried so far.

Works but will Dry Out Your Skin
Size: 6 Ounce (Pack of 1)
I am a swim instructor at an outdoor pool and this stuff DOES work. I can apply it at the beginning of a 5 hour shift and while I have experienced light tanning it has protected against burning completely without reapplication. The white cast is significant though I don't mind it aesthetically, I know its there for protection . It does rub off on things though so consider yourself warned. Major Con: it is incredibly drying, and the soap needed to scrub it off is A LOT. That coupled with chlorine is a lot for my skin . Still on my sunscreen journey.

I couldn’t put this book down!!
Format: Paperback
I couldn’t put this book down! My daughter & I stayed in a bed-n- breakfast in Lochcarran on our trip to Scotland right before the COVID pandemic. Not only is the story a fun cozy, whodunnit, but I could visualize the geography while reading. I love the Scottish Highlands & Dee describes them perfectly in this book. Can’t wait to read the next book..it should arrive today!!

Good book
Format: Audiobook
Book was interesting but had a hard time with the Scottish accent. Plus I have hearing problems so that may have been part of the issue too.
