Wijnhuis Cantine de Falco

Al sinds een halve eeuw is Cantine de Falco een van de toonaangevende, wijnproducerende familiebedrijven in de regio Salento (Puglia), Zuid-oost Italië. Het is gelegen in het plaatsje Novoli, 11 km van Lecce en omringd door 20 ha. wijngaarden. Deze zijn beplant met Negroamaro, Primitivo, Verdeca, Fiano, Malvasia en Chardonnay druiven. De regio Puglia heeft 5 subregio’s, waaronder Salento, van de Adriatische tot de Ionische zee in de zogenaamde Hak van de Italiaanse Laars. Het milde, mediterrane klimaat wordt gekarakteriseerd door de noordoosten wind die tijdens de zomermaanden voor grote temperatuurverschillen, overdag en ‘s nachts, zorgt. In combinatie met de bodem in Salento die hoofdzakelijk uit zand, klei en kalksteen bestaat, geeft dit de basis voor de karakteristieke wijnen van Cantine de Falco, bereid door Salvatore de Falco en zijn zoon Gabriele.
