About the Image
Curt Teich was an American publisher of German descent. He was a pioneer of the offset printing process and brought the large letter “Greetings from” postcard concept from Germany to the US after a visit in 1904. The company closed in 1978 and the Teich family donated archives which now reside in the Newberry Library. The Curt Teich Postcard Archives Collection is the nation’s largest public collection of postcards and related materials.
