I am currently a hairdresser working from home in Bronkhorstspruit. 46 years old with an awesome supportive husband and 2 lovely kids. I also have a small range of natural beauty and hair products that I sell. I've always been creative in some sort of way throughout my life. Crafting keeps me sane. And a few other hobbies that I enjoy are baking, mosaic, painting, embroidery, and crocheting. I started up a pottery business during COVID. I love to be in nature when I get the time. |
| Inspiration | I love to do mixed media techniques on the rough ceramic background with all the texture, and if the deeper meaning of my work shows my inner world, then all the better. The protea flower is significant on her head. Images of Mrs. Balls chutney, Bovril, and Iwisa pap are shown as this is so connected to South Africa. On the headband, I tried to portray images of the sea. On her chest are the trees of Pierneef - that is where our heritage in art world comes from. Her eyes are closed as if still in a prayer. She endures hardship although she is still holding her beauty. |
