Elle cristallise dans le système trigonal et possède une dureté de 3 sur l’échelle de Mohs. On la trouve notamment dans les gisements cuivre-cobalt du Congo, du Maroc et de Namibie, souvent associée à la Malachite et à la Dolomite.
